Why “Founding Cohort”

The May 2026 cohort is the first to run the Micro-Exp Internship end to end, from the kick-off workshop through partner outreach, student-authored publication, and peer reviews. It is offered at no cost so the program can be shaped in real time, with real students and real community partners. What this cohort produces, in publications and in feedback, sets the template for every cohort that follows.

The May 2026 founding cohort gathered at McGill on launch day, May 11, 2026.

How it came together

The Micro-Exp Internship grew out of work at the McGill Faculty of Education on knowledge mobilization and community-engaged learning. Hamid Golhasany founded ScienceReach to build the knowledge-mobilization (academia–community) infrastructure his doctoral research identified as missing, then connected with educators and graduate students at McGill to design a short-format internship that connects student learning with community knowledge.
